ZURLE: THE ENERGY OF YOUTH

It is a festive occasion in the village. People are laughing, wine is flowing, the orchestra is playing and the streets echo with young girls’ ‘zurle’. What is ‘zurle’? In the dialect of Abruzzo, the term refers to the boisterous fun, liveliness and energy typical of children. Such merriment arises, above all, from music because ‘zurla’ is the name of a gypsy musical instrument, the ancestor of the oboe and the shawm.

The word ‘zurle’ expresses energy, genuine cheerfulness and a sunny, friendly and sincere disposition. It is the character of this Rosso d’Abruzzo. On the festive occasion described above, it is the ideal accompaniment to meat roasted outdoors, under a pergola overlooking hills.

A genuine wine that is everything but trivial. Made from selected grapes, enhanced with many intense aromas of fruit with subtle spicy hints, rich, vigorous and with an excellent structure, it acquires its character from a land that has always been dedicated to vine-growing: the Frentane hills, between the Maiella massif and the sea, the sacred heart of the Abruzzo winemaking tradition.
